15 Verses That Keep Me Grounded
"And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you."— Romans 8:11 (NIV)
The verse I come back to when things get hard. The same power that conquered death lives in every believer.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."— Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
Letting go of my own plan and trusting His. Still working on this one every single day.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."— Proverbs 9:10 (ESV)
Wisdom doesn't start in the classroom. It starts with reverence.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."— James 1:5 (NIV)
As a dad and a leader, I ask for this one constantly.
"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."— Ephesians 6:11-12 (NIV)
The real battle is spiritual. Suiting up matters.
"For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants."— Psalm 135:14 (CSB)
A reminder that God fights for the ones who belong to Him.
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."— Psalm 23:4 (NIV)
The dark valleys are real. So is the presence that walks through them with you.
"I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears."— Psalm 34:4 (ESV)
Prayer works. I've seen it too many times to doubt it.
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."— Psalm 73:26 (NIV)
When everything else runs out, He doesn't. That's the foundation.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."— Romans 8:28 (NIV)
All things. Not just the easy ones. All of them.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."— John 3:16 (NIV)
The whole gospel in one sentence. Never gets old.
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."— 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
All of it. He can handle the weight I'm carrying.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."— Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
The formula for peace that actually works, on paper and in practice.
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."— Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)
Every name in this verse is something I need. All of them at once.
"But now, this is what the Lord says — he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine."— Isaiah 43:1 (NIV)
He knows my name. That's enough.

Why These Hobbies Matter

These aren't just ways to pass time. They keep me sharp, connected to nature, and balanced between work, faith, and fatherhood. Moses Lake's got the perfect setup for it all: local trails, winter slopes a few hours out, and the kind of open sky that reminds you what matters.

If you've got similar interests or tips for good PNW spots, I'd love to hear them.
